The independent test every investment case should pass

A business case built by the people who want it approved is not evidence. It is advocacy. Feasibility exists to separate the two.

Advocacy Is Not Evidence

A business case built by the people who want it approved will, almost without exception, read as viable. This is not a criticism of their judgement — it is a structural feature of how conviction and self-interest work. The people closest to an idea are often the least able to test it objectively.

Feasibility exists to separate advocacy from evidence before capital, resources or organisational credibility are committed.

An independent feasibility assessment tests the assumptions a business case usually treats as settled:

  • Is the addressable demand realistic, or a top-down market-size figure divided by an ambitious market share?
  • Will the target customer actually adopt this, at this price, on this timeline?
  • How defensible is the proposition once a credible competitor responds?
  • What has to go right operationally for the revenue model to hold?
  • Which single assumption, if wrong, would most change the recommendation?

A proposal that cannot withstand these questions has not failed. It has simply not yet been tested — a far less costly problem to discover before launch than after.

What Independent Testing Looks At
  • Demand Realism

Is the addressable market grounded in evidence, or in a top-down assumption?

  • Adoption

Will the customer actually change behaviour to purchase this, at this price?

  • Competitive Response

How does the proposition perform once a credible competitor reacts?

  • Operating Requirements

What capability, infrastructure and sequencing does the revenue model assume?

  • Sensitivity

Which single assumption carries the most influence over the outcome?

Our Role

A Test, Not a Validation Exercise

Dune & Palm conducts independent feasibility assessments designed to test — not confirm — the commercial viability of a proposed venture, project or investment.

Where the evidence does not support the preferred conclusion, that is precisely the finding a decision-maker needs before, not after, resources are committed.

The Value of Feasibility Is in What It Is Willing to Conclude.

An assessment that always confirms what management already believed has not tested anything. Independence is the entire point — and it is what separates a feasibility study from an advocacy document with numbers attached.
